What is Muezzin?

Muezzin is a compact Islamic prayer time device that connects to any Bluetooth speaker to play the adhan (call to prayer) five times a day. It also provides a beautiful interface for displaying prayer times on any device.

How do I set up my Muezzin device?

Setting up your Muezzin device is simple: 1) Connect it to power via USB, 2) Connect it to your home Wi-Fi network following the included instructions, 3) Pair it with your Bluetooth speaker, and 4) Configure your location and prayer time preferences through the web interface.

Does Muezzin work with any Bluetooth speaker?

Yes, Muezzin is compatible with virtually any Bluetooth speaker. It uses standard Bluetooth protocols to connect and deliver high-quality adhan audio.

Does Muezzin receive software updates?

Yes, Muezzin receives automatic over-the-air (OTA) updates that improve functionality and add new features, even after purchase.

How does Muezzin calculate prayer times?

Muezzin uses precise astronomical calculations based on your location. You can choose from various calculation methods including Muslim World League, Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), Egyptian General Authority of Survey, and others.

Can I customize which adhans reciter to use?

Currently only Al Afasy is supported. We are working on adding more reciters in the future and these will be automatically available as over the air updates to your device.

Does Muezzin require an internet connection?

Muezzin requires internet connection for prayer time updates every morning before Fajr. This ensures you will always have the latest and most accurate prayer times.

Can I use Muezzin with multiple devices?

Yes, while the Muezzin hardware connects to one Bluetooth speaker at a time, the prayer time interface can be accessed from any device on your network through a web browser. Many of our users display these on always-on tablets or smart TVs that are connected to their Wi-Fi network.

What happens if my internet connection is lost?

If internet connectivity is temporarily lost, Muezzin will continue to function with its last known settings and time. When connectivity is restored, it will automatically resynchronize.

What's included in the Muezzin package?

The Muezzin package includes the Muezzin device (based on Raspberry Pi Zero W) with an SD card with our software pre-installed, a power adapter, detailed setup instructions, and access to the Muezzin web interface. A Bluetooth speaker is not included and must be purchased separately.
